MegaWomen of the MegaRegion
WorldWise Coaching and the Mining Cluster of Sonora collaborated on a winning proposal to establish a communication channel across Arizona and Sonora for Women in Mining which is unique to our region. With the sponsorship of the U.S. Consulate General in Nogales the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources, we co-organized Las Mineras: MegaWomen of the MegaRegion on International Women’s Day, March 8th 2021. This forum connected 124 from Arizona and Sonora to discuss the challenges of women miners and women-owned businesses in the mining value chain on both sides of the border. We were very fortunate to have Consul General Laura Biedebach of Nogales as well as Ambassador Virginia E. Palmer, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Resources participate in the event while the Executive Coordinator of the Sonoran Institute for Women (ISM), Blanca Luz Saldaña, joined us on behalf of the Governor of Sonora, Claudia Pavlovich.
